वोज़नियाक को अक्सर "वोज़" या "द वोज़" उपनाम से जाना जाता है।[2] "वोज़" वोज़नियाक द्वारा स्थापित एक कंपनी का नाम भी है।



शुरूआती कैरियर


1970 के दशक के मध्य में स्टीव की मां "सनीवेल कम्युनिटी प्लेयर्स" (स्थानीय थिएटर ग्रुप) के बोर्ड की सदस्या थी। "70 गर्ल्स70" नाटक के लिए उन्होंने पहला कम्प्यूटरीकृत अग्रमंच मेहराब बनाया।[तथ्य वांछित]


उस समय वोज़नियाक के दोस्त रहे स्टीव जॉब्स को आर्केड वीडियो गेम ब्रेकआउट के लिए एक सर्किट बोर्ड तैयार करने की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी गयी थी। अटारी के सह-संस्थापक नोलन बुशनेल के अनुसार, अटारी मशीन से हटाये गए प्रत्येक चिप के लिए उन्हें 100 डॉलर की पेशकश की गयी थी। स्टीव जॉब्स को सर्किट बोर्ड बनावट के विषय में कम विशेषीकृत जानकारी थी अतः उन्होंने वोज़नियाक के साथ एक सौदा किया। सौदे के अनुसार वोज़नियाक मशीन में चिप्स की संख्या कम करते और उन दोनों के बीच समान रूप से यह राशि विभाजित हो जाती। वोज़नियाक ने रैम का प्रयोग करते हुए कुल 50 चिप्स घटाए। वोज़नियाक के अनुसार, जॉब्स ने उन्हें बताया की अटारी ने उन्हें केवल 700 डॉलर दिए (बजाये पेश किये गए 5,000 के) और इस प्रकार वोज़नियाक का हिस्सा 350 डॉलर बनता था। [3] वोज़नियाक को दस साल बाद जब वास्तविक बोनस की जानकारी मिली, तब उन्होंने कहा की अगर जॉब्स ने उन्हें बताया होता की उन्हें पैसों की ज़रूरत है, तो वह उन्हें स्वयं दे देते।[4]
