जेलेप ला हिमालय का एक पहाड़ी दर्रा है जो भारत के सिक्किम राज्य को दक्षिण तिब्बत में चुम्बी घाटी को जोड़ता है।[1] अंतरराष्ट्रीय सीमा की भारतीय तरफ़ इस दर्रे के चरणों में प्रसिद्ध मेनमेचो झील स्थित है।[2]



ला और दर्रा


ध्यान दें कि 'ला' शब्द तिब्बती भाषा में 'दर्रे' का अर्थ रखता है। क़ायदे से इस दर्रे को 'जेलेप दर्रा' या 'जेलेप ला' कहना चाहिये। इसे 'जेलेप ला दर्रा' कहना 'दर्रे' शब्द को दोहराने जैसा है, लेकिन यह प्रयोग फिर भी प्रचलित है।
